Rank Update: From 50 to 80

It has been announced that the leveling system in Pokémon Go is about to change. They are raising the level cap from 50 to 80 and rebalancing how levels work.

New info for leveling

Tasks to level from 41 to 50 will be removed, and new tasks will be added for Level 71 to 80. Level 70 and higher players have an increased chance of becoming Lucky Friends. New rewards will be added to level up progression, including gifts, Pokémon storage, and items. Some players will automatically jump in level, but no player will lower in level.

Legacy Medal

On October 14th, all players will receive a medal commemorating their highest level before the adjustment. Avatar items available from Level 40 through 50 will no longer be available, but players who are at Level 50 before the change will receive a new pose.

XP Event

A new XP Celebration event will be live from 20:00 UTC on August 25th until October 14th at 23:59 local time. This event will have 2* Catch Experience for Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws, +3000 Experience from Raids and Max Battles. Timed Research will also be available to all trainers, which gives a chance to earn over 7 million experience. Pokémon levels will not be adjusted or added with this.
