Psychic Spectacular: Taken Over

The next announced event in Pokémon Go is Psychic Spectacular: Taken Over, featuring the debut of Shadow Tornadus and Indeedee. It runs from Sept 16th at 10:00 am/10:00 local time and ends on Sept 21st at 08:00 pm/20:00 local time.

What to expect

During the event, Team Go Rocket grunts will appear more frequently on PokeStops, and Balloons will spawn more often. You can remove Frustation from Shadow Pokémon with Charged TMs, and Pokémon in Shadow raids will have wider variance in IVs. This event gives additional candy for Nice Throws or better, and has 50% Incubator Distance.

Shadow Pokémon

During the event, you will get Shadow Qwilfish, Swablu, Baltoy, and Deino from grunts.

Wild encounters

Abra, Lunatone, Solrock, and Beldum will spawn in the wild, among others

Eggs

Smoochum, Chingling, Espurr, and Indeedee will be in 5km Eggs. Indeedee will be able to be Shiny

Raids

During the event, you will find in 3 star shadow raids Alolan Raichu, Hisuian Braviary, and Wyrdeer. And lastly, in 5 star raids, you will find Groudon. Everyone can be shiny. This means for the first time, you can get a Shadow Shiny Groudon, but it is only in raids from Saturday, Sept 20th, 2025, at 6:00 a.m. to Sunday, Sept 21st, 2025, at 10:00 p.m. local time.

Research

During the event, there will be a special research given out on the same day and can be claimed until the end of the current season, which is December 2nd, locally, morning time. Paid timed research can be bought, and it gives out 2 Premium Battle Passes, a Super Rocket Radar, and encounters with event Pokémon
