Delightful Days: Taken Over

The next announced event in Pokémon Go is Delightful Days: Taken Over, featuring the debut of Shadow Giratina and Shiny Salandit. It runs from Aug 11th at 10:00 am/10:00 local time and ends on Aug 17th at 08:00 pm/20:00 local time.

What to expect

During the event, Team Go Rocket grunts will appear more frequently on PokeStops, and Balloons will spawn more often. You can remove Frustation from Shadow Pokémon with Charged TMs, and Pokémon in Shadow raids will have wider variance in IVs.

New Shadow Pokémon

During the event, you will get Shadow Staryu, Shadow Fletchling, Shadow Pikipek, and Shadow Grubbin from grunts.

Eggs

In 12km eggs, you can now hatch Shiny Salandit from them. Note that only female Salandit can evolve into Salazzle, and it is a bit rare to get.

Raids

During the event, you will find Bellsprout, Aipom, Teddiursa, and Seedot in 1 star shadow raids. While in 3 star shadow raids, you will find Girafrarig, Absol & Whirlipede. And lastly, in 5 star raids, you will find Kyogre. Everyone can be shiny except for Girafarig and Whirlipede. This means for the first time, you can get a Shadow Shiny Kyogre, but it is only in raids from Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 6:00 a.m. to Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 10:00 p.m. local time.

Research

During the event, there will also be a special research given out on the same day and can be claimed until the end of the current season, which is Sept 2nd, locally, morning time.
